🚁 What’s the SkyRover X1?

  • A sleek, foldable mini drone, weighing under 250 g—perfect for travel or those lightning-fast FPV shots.

  • Equipped with 360° obstacle avoidance, a rotatable camera (vertical mode included!), and a high-end 1/1.3″ sensor for crisp 4K/60 video.

  • It’s already generating buzz as the leading sub‑250 g DJI-alternative in 2025.

🕵️‍♂️ The DJI Connection

Security researcher Kevin Finisterre (with a stellar rep in drone security) cracked open the SkyRover’s app and – bam – found hard-coded connections to DJI services like “flysafe,” referencing DJI FlySafe APIs.

Likely explanation? The SkyRover X1 appears to be a rebranded DJI Mini 4 Pro, possibly OEM’d via Knowact—apparently a strategy to dodge DJI restrictions and play brand anonymity.

💬 As Konrad Iturbe quipped on X:

“Knowact drone ‘Caelone 01’ is actually… SkyRover X1… to separate the brand from the manufacturer.”

🎬 Video Rundown (Highlights)

Check out this quick clip covering the SkyRover loopback to DJI and its resemblance to Mini 4 Pro:

Why It Matters

  • Regulatory drama: With U.S. lawmakers eyeing DJI bans and tightening drone security laws in 2025, the SkyRover X1 may be an end-run around these restrictions—but still gathering data via DJI’s cloud.

  • Feature-packed: Despite its possibly non-U.S. big-brand status, it's a beast in disguise—Mini 4 Pro specs, weight, and performance—yet sold under a new banner.

Bottom Line (as seen by Prop Stop)

Pros

Cons

Budget-friendly access to DJI-level tech

Raises privacy/security eyebrows

Lightweight & FAA-friendly

Likely still relies on DJI backend

Top-tier flight modes & obstacle avoidance

May dodge bans but not data loops

Final Thoughts

For drone pilots out there: love the specs, love the stealth—but keep your antennas up about backend data flow. The SkyRover X1 is clearly DJI under a new mask—so if you're after that DJI experience and don’t mind the “rebranded” backstory, it’s an impressive package.
